Ahmedabad’s Gaj-Aakriti Wins Gold at WOW Awards Asia 2026 for Wedding Storytelling

New Delhi [India], August 5: In photography, there are images that document an occasion, and then there are images that preserve a feeling. The difference often lies not in the camera, but in the eye behind it.

That distinction has now earned Ahmedabad-based wedding storytelling studio Gaj-Aakriti one of the highest honours on the Asian events calendar. At the WOW Awards Asia 2026, the studio was conferred the Gold Award in the category Photography for a Pre-Event Social Celebration for its evocatively titled project, North of Love, South of Home – Love As It Is Meant To Be: Jasleen & Nava.

The recognition marks a significant milestone not only for the studio but also for Gujarat’s creative fraternity. With photography categories at the WOW Awards being exceptionally selective, Gaj-Aakriti stands as the only production house from Gujarat to receive a photography honour at this year’s edition, reaffirming that compelling visual storytelling knows no geographical boundaries.

At the heart of the award-winning project was a celebration where traditions did not merely coexist, they conversed. The bride belonged to Ahmedabad, the groom to Chennai. Their union unfolded through the grace of a South Indian wedding at dawn, the serenity of an Anand Karaj by evening, and the quiet romance of a monsoon that became an unplanned yet unforgettable participant in the celebrations. Every frame reflected not just the grandeur of the festivities but the seamless dialogue between cultures, families and emotions.

For founder Gajendra Kumavat, the accolade was less about validation and more about quiet affirmation. Having entered the competition with measured expectations, the announcement of the Gold Award became a reminder that authenticity often resonates more deeply than anticipation. In an arena judged by some of the industry’s most discerning creative minds, it was not extravagance that found recognition, but the sincerity with which a story had been told.

Over the years, Gaj-Aakriti has cultivated a distinctive visual language, one that favours intimacy over spectacle and emotion over orchestration. Its photographs are never confined to ceremonies alone; they linger on fleeting glances, inherited traditions, unscripted laughter and the invisible threads that bind families together. That philosophy finds its finest expression when every image carries the weight of memory long after the celebrations have faded.

Awards, by their very nature, commemorate excellence. Yet some recognitions also signify a larger shift. Gaj-Aakriti’s Gold at WOW Awards Asia is one such moment, not merely because it celebrates a remarkable body of work, but because it reflects the growing presence of Gujarati creative talent on international platforms. It is a reminder that stories rooted in authenticity possess a universal language, and when told with honesty, they transcend borders, cultures and conventions.
